Chika Okoro – Colorism, It’s still a thing!

Chika Okoro, is passionate about all things women of color and believe it is her calling to inspire Black women to find self-love, self-worth, and experience the healing that enables them to have the confidence to live the full expression of themselves.

In 2015, while getting her MBA at Stanford, Chika came across a casting call for the movie, Straight Outta Compton” that openly discriminated against dark skinned Black women. Seeing this motivated her to give a TEDx talk raising awareness of the issue of colorism and how women of color can still have self confidence despite the prejudice in society.  That talk has been viewed over 1 million times, translated to 6 different languages. Let’s talk about Colorism

That this mentality is still alive and well so just too much. Thank you for shining a light on these subjects, that I am sure people either never heard of or thought had gone away.

I had no idea this was even a thing. Who does this?
